Project 3: Project Prototype
After proposing and deciding on the idea we want, we are required to create a prototype. The purpose of this project is to determine whether the main features (MVP) we intend to implement are workable or not. It is encourage to approach different ways and methods to build our prototype. After all, all progression should be documented in this blog.

Recap:
1) VirtuCard: AR Networking

2) Overview:
VirtuCard transforms how creators connect, bringing designs to life in augmented reality. The AR experience allows personalised avatars and immersive virtual spaces, offering a unique way to showcase portfolios and engage audiences.

3) Key Features:
- Utilizes Ready Player Me for lifelike avatars.
- Virtual spaces serve as design galleries for dynamic presentations.
- Clickable links and icons, redirect to creators' social media and contact info.

4) Goals:
  • Unleash creativity with authentic and innovative visual experiences.
  • Targeted at creative professionals and event organizers seeking interactive and captivating presentations.

5) Summary:
VirtuCard revolutionises networking, combining AR visuals and immersive experiences for a dynamic showcase of creativity.

1) Screens - UI

Size: Iphone 13
Font: Orbitron - Medium, Roboto Slab - Extra Bold
Colour: Dark Greyish Blue (#32424A), Light Cray (#F5F5F5), Vivid Cyan (#01ECD5)

For the splash screen of my prototype, I didn't invest a significant amount of time in enhancing the user experience, as I was lagging behind in the project's progression. However, here is an overview of what will be presented in my application before users access the MVP of my product: 1) the scanning of a card will reveal a virtual representation of myself, 2) followed by a virtual space showcasing my design portfolio. 3) Lastly, users will be redirected to social media accounts and contact information, etc.

2) Business Card
Figure 1.2 - Card Design, Week 11 (09 Nov 2023)
Tools:
  • Canva - for business card template,
  • Ready Player Me - virtual 3D character,
  • Google Font - icons
While I have a brief concept of how the interface will look after users scan the card, I find it challenging to determine the presentation, including layout and animation, of information such as the placement of the virtual space and contact details from the actual business card. I aim to avoid redundancy and adhere to the proposed idea's objective of reducing the use of physical business cards. Based on previous feedback, I am also figuring out where to integrate my 3D character into the interface.

3) Virtual Space
Figure 1.3 - Virtual Space, Week 11 (09 Nov 2023)

Software: Polycam, export in OBJ/ FBX

Initially, my plan was to locate an empty space and then add furniture and frames to construct an interactive space in Unity. However, due to time constraints in coding, I opted for the more convenient option of scanning my room. After several attempts at scanning, I decided to present the virtual space in an isometric view instead of featuring all four walls around the space.

4) Prototype (UX & MVP)

In this video, I explained how (the steps/ exploration taken) I turned my idea into reality. Despite not having a polished UI/UX, I made sure to capture the functionality of my application in the prototype. To achieve this, I followed the principles and techniques taught in the tutorials over the past few weeks in class.

5) Video Presentation

Feedback

Week 11

1. Put virtual 3D character
2. Zooming effect and 360 view for the virtual space
3. Need to redesign the card
4. Character and animation such as waiving
5. Pop up effect on certain stuffs
6. Have frames on the walls for showcasing the creativity of the designer

Reflection

Thinking about how to build my ideas for the virtual space was an interesting journey. I wanted it to be a place where creative artists could show their products. Making sure the social media icons could be clicked on was important for connecting people.

First, I explored different ways to make the virtual space feel right for artists. I wanted it to be a place that brings out their creativity and showcases what they make. This meant thinking about the design, colors, and how everything comes together to make it a cool and inviting space.

One big thing I focused on was making the social media icons clickable. I wanted artists to connect easily with people who like their work. So, when someone sees a cool product in the virtual space, they can click on the social media icons to find more about the artist. This was like building a bridge between the virtual space and the real world.

Making sure the icons were clickable wasn't just about technical stuff; it was about making connections happen. It was like saying, "Hey, you like this? Check out more from the artist on their social media!" It added a personal touch to the virtual space.

In the end, exploring these ways to build my ideas made the virtual space not just a showcase but a platform for artists to connect with others. It was about making the space feel right for creativity and ensuring that artists and their audience could easily connect through clickable social media icons. It's like building a creative community one click at a time.
