Project 1: Mobile Application Proposal

Students are required to create a proposal document for their mobile application project. You are required to redesign an existing mobile application that you find unsatisfactory in terms of the user experience or interface design and it is subject to preliminary approval by the module coordinator. The document will determine whether or not the mobile application idea is good to continue to the next development phase.

Upon confirmation we were tasked to do the following:

    Feedback

    Week 2 - App Analysis
To adhere to the 5 principles of usability for the redesign of the selected app, it's essential to keep things simple and straightforward. One piece of advice is to consider implementing a pop-up window on the login page.

    Week 3 - Proposal
Mr. Shamsul suggested that, rather than opting for A/B Testing, conducting one-to-one interviews might be a more practical approach for this project, as A/B Testing can be time-consuming. A brief overview of the user research methodology will suffice for this section.

    Week 4 - Presentation
The selection of interviewees needs to be reevaluated, as it could introduce bias. It's known that the closer a researcher is to their participants, the more genuine and valuable the data becomes. Apart from that, the user research is well-structured. Usability testing being an integral component in each research method, applied after data collection.

    Reflection

The experience, from the initial proposal of this application to its presentation, was a smooth and exciting journey. After a year of refining our design and research skills, we were finally able to put our knowledge into practice in the UI/UX field and develop our design intuition. The overall learning atmosphere with our classmates and Mr. Shamsul was comfortable and joyful. Nevertheless, I acknowledge that there is plenty of room for improvement in my performance, and I am dedicated to investing the required effort to enhance my skills further.
