Project 2: Project Management
Groups were required to present team roles, task breakdowns, priorities, and milestone progression using a Gantt chart. They also needed to explain sprint retrospectives and provide clear problem-solving strategies.

Requirements
  • Clarity in next steps
  • Timeline
  • Roles of team members
  • Art Direction strategy

I focused on redesigning the layout, such as improving the placement of characters and data, and used generative AI to assist in enhancing the gaming experience. However, I decided not to disclose too many details at this stage, as I felt it was more important to focus on refining the current content before considering future developments.

Since color coordination isn’t my strength, I opted to use the existing game color palette for consistency. In the redesigned interface, my concept was to make the character the main focus. The characters we created were too detailed and impressive not to be showcased prominently, so I emphasized enlarging them to highlight their details. For the score panels, I aimed to avoid a simple or plain design, adding subtle enhancements to make them more engaging. While elements like the characters owned and achievements were not fully planned yet, I introduced a "Start Run" button. This allows players to begin the game without leaving the panel, ensuring a seamless experience.

Additionally, I believe it would be a great idea to let players rename their characters. This feature would give them a sense of ownership and personalization, making the gameplay experience more immersive and enjoyable.

The characters were positioned at the center of the screen, slightly staggered behind one another. This arrangement allows players to preview upcoming options without cluttering the interface with a separate section below. In my design, each character is accompanied by their name, skins, and seasonal promotion costumes. Additional character details are indicated by an "i" icon, and a "Select" button is placed at the bottom of each character within the thumb’s natural reach for ease of use. For the background, I envisioned placing platform screen doors to add depth to the design. However, I couldn’t find a suitable resource, so I decided to leave it as it is for now.

In addition, I had previously proposed moving the exit/close button back to the top-right corner, as seen in most games. However, after revisiting the game and re-evaluating its design, I realized that the original placement of the button was more practical. It was designed to fit within the thumb’s natural range, enabling players to navigate between pages, sections, and even start the game with one hand without needing to reach up and down. Hence, I decided to retain its current position for a more user-friendly experience.

Reflection

For this project, we faced challenges with team interactions due to overlapping submissions for other modules, which led to poor discussions. While the project workload itself wasn’t overwhelming, I found myself stuck in the same spot repeatedly, unsure if I was truly making progress. Additionally, visualizing sarcasm in the UI design was difficult for me as a non-gamer. As a result, my main contribution was redesigning the screens I felt were lacking, focusing on improving their elements for better exposure. Ultimately, we managed to submit the project on time, and we aim to prioritize better communication and time management for future tasks.
