Reflection

Experience
During this module, I went through many stages of study and design, starting with filling out surveys and moving on to interviews, literature reviews, and book design. At first, I had trouble keeping track of time and putting things off, which caused me to put off appointments with doctors and other important chores. But forcing myself to go to the hospital and do interviews in person was a turning point. I gained confidence and useful information that I couldn't have gotten from emails alone. Working on the literature review matrix was another important step forward, even though it was mentally draining because of all the pieces that had to be compared and contrasted. I had to learn how to use InDesign again after not using it for years when I switched from writing study papers to design work. It was hard at first, but it also helped me rediscover my interest in publication design.

Observation
What I noticed was that outside things like mood, environment, and peer support had an immense impact on my work. I often put things off, but having people who encouraged me to stay on track and were there for me helped me get through the tough parts. The interim targets were like checkpoints that helped me get back on track after falling behind and slowly gain speed. I also noticed that responses from in-person interviews were more honest and detailed than responses from email interviews. This shows how important it is to talk to participants directly. From a design point of view, I saw that playing around with layouts, moodboards, and fonts needed patience and iterative thought. Over time, I learnt more about grid systems and different ways to format text, which helped the layout of my book design as a whole.

Findings
The things I learnt on this journey are both academic and emotional. I found important gaps in the research about how much immersive VR tools for orthopaedic therapy cost as well as accessible they are to obtain. The interviews with physiotherapists made it clear that there aren't many cheap and effective home-based therapy options. This supported the main point of my research goals even more. For me, I noticed that my resilience and ability to change got a lot better. Even though I had problems with self-doubt and overthinking, making moodboards, improving design layouts, and going over study material again and again helped me improve both my critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills. Finished the last tasks, like updating the research methodology and designing the book. Not only did this mark the end of the module, but it also gave me more faith in my ability to balance writing, designing, and researching.
